I really wanted to like this FREDD MARSHALL cargo shirt. The 100% cotton material feels durable yet comfortable, and the overall stitching and quality construction seem solid for a casual work shirt. The fit and functional cargo pockets are exactly what I was looking for.

Unfortunately, it arrived with a large, obvious blemish right out of the package. It’s hard to miss, which makes me think it somehow slipped right past quality control. While the shirt itself has great potential, receiving an item with such a noticeable flaw on day one is frustrating. If you get a defect-free one, it’s likely a good shirt, but quality check definitely dropped the ball on this instance. I am giving it 3 stars because I don't know if their quality control is always this bad or if this was a one-off situation.

This is a fantastic men's button-down shirt! I picked it up for my husband, who can sometimes be hard to please when it comes to patterned shirts, but this pattern is muted and subtle enough that he really likes it.

We both immediately noticed how tailored the shirt looks. It has a style similar to shirts designed to be worn untucked—the length is just right, so it doesn't need to be tucked in but also doesn't leave you looking like you have a bunch of extra fabric hanging around. The fit also seems slightly athletic. My husband has broad shoulders, and I was honestly surprised by how well this shirt fit him.

The cotton fabric is another huge plus. It's a nice medium weight and feels structured enough to look polished without being overly thick or heavy. My husband tends to run warm, so this is probably about as heavy of a shirt as he would want to wear, even during cooler weather.

The details and construction are also very nicely done. We both liked the buttons, which have an attractive aged-brass appearance. There are flat seams around the neckline for added comfort, and the rest of the seams look sturdy, clean, and well finished on the inside.

Overall, this is a really nice-quality shirt with a flattering fit, comfortable fabric, and great attention to detail. I think it's worth the price and would definitely recommend it.

I ordered this shirt for my son because it's cotton!

In the south, well actually in a whole lot of places these days, it's just too hot to wear synthetic fabrics. No matter how cold it gets that stuff always ends up overheating. The garment gets too hot but it's also too cold to go without long sleeves and then there you are, stuck sweating and freezing at the same time.

ANYWAY, this is wonderful, breathable cotton-- and a really good quality cotton in a fantastic stiff-ish weave. I want to say it is like a twill. For a shirt from Amazon, and in 2026, the cotton actually has a nice weight. The current stiffness ('stiffness' might be overstating it) is very promising as to the wear and also, this density of cotton holds its shape much better over time. You see softer weaves of cotton start to sag over time and look sloppy. With synthetics it happens immediately, you can see it in the fitting room! This particular cotton weave won't do that. It will lose -some- of its factory-floor stiffness over washings and dryings, but it won't lose its shape and it won't drape and cling, either. I feel like a cotton spokeswoman right now, but with this weave of cotton, you're covered but the drape doesn't trap your body heat.

This fits slightly large. I wouldn't necessarily size down UNLESS you really want a fitted look (like the model in the listing, I'd call that fitted).

Although this isn't a flannel, my son wears all long sleeve plaid shirts as if they were flannel, so, he uses them more as ultra lightweight jackets. That means of course he is layering this shirt over things. He always wears an undershirt by default, then he might wear a longsleeved tshirt and a long sleeved button down on top of that. So it's got to be loose enough to accommodate layers while still giving breathing room. That's something to consider when selecting your size-- how many layers if any will you wear this over? And I think he likes the boxy over sized look, as he's a middle schooler. But again, if YOU want this to fit like the model in the listing, read the size chart carefully and consider the possibility of even sizing down.

A well-made long sleeve button down 'utility' type shirt is indispensable to Texas guys, and probably lots of other guys where the winters aren't bad. These are incredibly versatile and will get a lot of wear. This is a beautiful plaid, especially for an over shirt.

I like everything about this shirt except it runs small. I'm 6'2", 210. I got an XL regular fit--it's not very roomy. For reference, I am comfortable in XL from Wrangler, Carharrt, Jogal, and Amazon Essentials. I could have used an XXL.

The sewing is well done, the material is very nice and the fit is great. It has a natural feel and is not too thin. They used plenty of cotton, and overall it feels like a quality shirt. It is not overly heavy like a flannel but warm for those cool summer nights yet light enough for those warm fall or spring days. The look is very dashing on a man and it would even look cute on a girl as well. It did run a little small which is why I put four stars otherwise I would give five, so I would recommend sizing up if you want a loose fit. Overall it is a nice button up from Amazon.

The fabric is very thin. I was expecting something more like a flannel based on the appearance and that my husband's other cargo work shirts are thicker. That said, it is a very attractive shirt and the fabric is soft. There wasn't an extra button but I have so many it hardly matters; I'm used to seeing that extra button on the inside. The fit... the fit is very tight. My husband actually wasn't able to button it, so either I'm stealing this shirt or it's an around the house shirt for him because he has to be able to button it to wear it to work. This was surprising as he has other large shirts that are not so tight AND we haven't washed it yet. It's cotton and I know it's going to shrink! I'd say this is a good fall shirt, but too thin to be a work shirt, and definitely order up a size!
